I hope this message finds you well and that you've had a blessed week, surrounded by God's love. This Sabbath, we have a profound opportunity to come together as a community, united in our faith, to celebrate the Lord's Supper, also known as Communion. This sacred ritual is a poignant reminder of Jesus' ultimate sacrifice, a gesture of love and redemption that changed the course of humanity forever.
As we approach this special moment, I would like to encourage you to take some time to prepare your hearts and minds. This isn't just about being present in body, but also about being present in spirit. Here are a few suggestions to help you prepare:
Firstly, take time to examine your heart and seek God's guidance. Reflect on areas where you may have strayed from His will and invite Him to forgive and guide you. This is not about beating yourself up over past mistakes, but rather about recognising God's unwavering grace and mercy in your life. Take a moment to acknowledge the forgiveness you've received through Christ's sacrifice and allow it to shape your heart.
Secondly, take the opportunity to reconcile with others. Whether it's forgiving those who have wronged you or seeking forgiveness from someone you have wronged, this is a chance to experience the power of God's forgiveness and extend it to others. Remember, "love is not just a feeling, but a choice," and this Sabbath is the perfect time to demonstrate that love by extending forgiveness and compassion to those around you.
Thirdly, take a moment to pause and reflect on the significance of Jesus' sacrifice. Read about his death and resurrection in scripture (such as Psalms 22, Isaiah 53, Mark 15:21-29, John 19, 1 Corinthians 15:1-8, or Philippians 2:1-11) and remember the promise of eternal life that he offers. Let His words sink deep into your heart and be reminded of the incredible love He has for you.
Fourthly, pray for a fresh spiritual experience during our Communion service. Thank God for His goodness, faithfulness, and forgiveness, and ask that this time be a blessing in your life. Pray for a deeper understanding of His love, a greater sense of peace, and a renewed commitment to following Him.
Lastly, join us this Sabbath as we gather around the table to celebrate the Lord's Supper. Take part in this beautiful ritual, and praise God for all He has done for us. Let us come with open hearts, ready to receive His blessing and to extend our love and appreciation to one another.
If you are unable to join us in person for our communion service, please don't hesitate to reach out, and we will arrange to bring communion to your home.
Blessings. David Peñate
