I hope this message finds you well and blessed! As we come together in worship, I’ve been reflecting on an important and enriching topic: the everyday practice of following Jesus. What does it truly mean to “practice the way of Jesus” in our daily lives?
It's a question that carries profound importance as we navigate the hustle and bustle of our routines. Whether we are at home with our families, at work with colleagues, or out in our neighbourhoods, we have countless opportunities to embody the love and teachings of Christ.
Living the way of Jesus is not about perfection; it's about intention and action. Think about the story of the Good Samaritan—a powerful reminder that kindness and compassion often come from unexpected places. Imagine you’re running errands and see someone struggling. In that moment, you can choose to lend a hand or keep rushing. Every small act of kindness can reflect Jesus’ love in practical ways.
Consider the time when Jesus welcomed children and emphasized the value of looking at life with wonder and simplicity. How often do we rush past moments of joy? This coming week let’s make a conscious effort to appreciate the little things—a smile from a stranger, a moment of laughter with a loved one, or even a serene moment of nature. Those are the moments where we can connect with the heart of Jesus and share that joy with others.
As we move through the coming days, I invite each of you to embrace practical ways to live out the way of Jesus. Engage in Acts of Kindness. Look for opportunities to show kindness—hold the door for someone, offer a compliment, or go out of your way to help a neighbour. You never know the impact a small gesture can have. Carve out a few moments in your day for quiet reflection or prayer. Ask yourself how you can live out Jesus’ teachings in your current circumstances. And of course—“service”—nothing says more about practicing the way of Jesus than being purposely involved in His service.
Remember, practicing the way of Jesus is a journey we’re all on together. Let’s encourage one another to share stories of how we’re living out His love in our everyday encounters. As we venture through this next week, may the peace and love of Christ fill your hearts and guide your actions. Let’s shine His light in everything we do!
Be blessed, David Peñate
