I pray this message finds you well and encouraged in the Lord. I want to share a story that has often reminded me of how God works in our weakness and through our small efforts.
Many years ago, a mother took her little boy to hear the famous pianist Paderewski perform in concert. She wanted to inspire him, since he had just begun piano lessons. They found their seats near the front, and as the mother chatted with friends, the boy wandered off.
Before anyone realised it, the boy climbed onto the stage and sat down at the great grand piano. To the audience’s surprise, he began to play the only tune he knew: “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.” The simple notes echoed through the hall, and people began to murmur. Some even gasped in disbelief, wondering where the boy’s mother was.
Suddenly, the great Paderewski appeared on stage. But instead of stopping the boy, he quietly walked up behind him. Leaning over, he whispered in the boy’s ear: “Keep going. Don’t quit. I’m right here with you.” Then, Paderewski reached around with his left hand and began filling in deep, rich bass notes. With his right hand, he added a flowing harmony. Together, what had started as a simple tune became something beautiful—a masterpiece.
That’s how God works with us. Our efforts often seem small. Our prayers feel weak. Our service to others feels insignificant. But when we offer what little we have to Him, God comes alongside us and adds His strength, His grace, and His beauty. He whispers to us: “Keep going. Don’t quit. I’m right here with you.”
The Apostle Paul reminds us of this truth: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
So, this weekend and for the week ahead, don’t be discouraged if your efforts feel small. Keep praying. Keep loving. Keep serving. When your life feels like “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,” remember—the Master is adding His harmony. Together, something beautiful is being created for His glory.
With love, David Peñate.
