Spring has arrived, and with it comes a sense of freshness, hope, and renewal. After the slower, cooler months of winter, it’s always uplifting to see flowers beginning to bloom, trees budding with new leaves, and the days growing brighter. Creation itself seems to be singing a reminder that God is the One who makes all things new.

This change of season also speaks into our spiritual walk with Jesus. Just as spring awakens new life in nature, the Lord invites us to step into new seasons in our faith. In the wintertime, things may appear still, barren, or even lifeless—but beneath the surface God is quietly at work. And then, when the time is right, life breaks through. In the same way, God may use seasons of waiting, silence, or trial in our lives to prepare us for a season of growth, renewal, and deeper fruitfulness.

Spring reminds us that no matter what our “yesterday” has been, in Christ there can be a new today. The soil of our hearts may have felt cold or dry, but the Spirit of God breathes life where there was none. New hope, new joy, new opportunities to serve Him and to grow in His likeness—all of this comes when we allow Jesus to be the gardener of our souls. He prunes, He waters, and He brings the increase.

The apostle Paul wrote, “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Cor. 5:17). This is the promise of the gospel—that God is always in the business of new beginnings. Springtime is a vivid reminder of that truth.

I want to pause and thank everyone who made last Sabbath’s Spring service such a blessing. From the uplifting music to the heartfelt prayers and testimonies, it was such a joy to see our church family come together to worship God and celebrate the season. Thank you for using your gifts to remind us of His goodness and to set the tone for this new chapter.

Looking ahead, this coming Sabbath we will be having a special Men’s Ministry Sabbath, where our men will lead us in worship. I encourage you to be present and to support them—it will be an enriching time for our whole church family.

And don’t forget, this Sunday we will celebrate Father’s Day with Bubsie. Bring along your family and friends for a relaxed and joy-filled day together. It’s a chance not only to honour the fathers and father-figures among us, but also to enjoy laughter, fellowship, and the gift of community.

As we step into this spring season, let’s also step forward in faith. Let’s invite Jesus to bring fresh growth into our lives, to renew our love for Him, and to awaken in us a deeper desire to follow Him. May we each experience the joy of walking in the newness of life that only He can give.

Blessings,  David Peñate.
