Happy Sabbath everyone!

If you were looking for a snapshot of what "church family" looks like in action, you didn’t have to look much further than the laughter and flour-dusted smiles at our cake auction last Saturday. The air was thick with more than just the scent of buttercream and sponge cake; it was filled with the unmistakable warmth of a community in action. As we gathered for our cake auction, the creativity and heart on display were truly overwhelming. From the fruit train, the dad-decorated masterpieces and the simple, heartfelt bakes that reminded us of home, every entry told a story of sacrifice and support.
We want to extend a massive "thank you" to every person who contributed. Whether you spent hours in the kitchen perfecting a recipe, donated your hard-earned funds as a bidder, or worked behind the scenes to keep the event running smoothly, your effort did not go unnoticed. Together, we raised vital funds for our Fly & Build team as they prepare to head to PNG this July. Because of your generosity, our team goes with more than just tools and supplies; they go with the tangible backing of a church that believes in the mission of service.

However, the success of the afternoon wasn't found solely in the final tally of the auction. The true "sweetness" of the day was found in the sight of our church family simply being together. In a world that often feels fragmented and hurried, there is something deeply counter-cultural and beautiful about a group of believers sharing a meal, a laugh, and a common goal. It reminded us that the church is not a building we visit, but a family to which we belong.

One of the most encouraging sights of the day was watching our children find such joy in each other's company. As the adults navigated the friendly competition of the auction, their energy and presence created a safe, vibrant space for the kids to do the important work of being kids: running, playing, and forming bonds that we hope will last a lifetime. There is a profound beauty in seeing the next generation find a home in the church environment, and it is a privilege for us as a church family to facilitate those moments of connection.

When we invest in these shared spaces, we are doing more than just providing a place to play; we are helping to build the foundation for a child's spiritual journey. It is our shared mission to ensure our young ones grow in their relationships with each other just as much as they grow with Christ. When a child feels that church is a place of friendship and belonging, the transition to understanding the love of Jesus becomes so much more natural. By simply being present and encouraging these moments, we are showing each other that the Body of Christ is a place of belonging, friendship and joy.

As we move into this Sabbath, let’s carry the warmth of that fellowship with us as we come together for our ANZAC Day morning service. We will gather to reflect and remember, followed with breakfast provided for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you for being a community that bakes, serves, gives, and plays together with such heart; it is a true joy to walk this journey with you and to see our church become a home for every member of the family, from the oldest to the very youngest.

Prayers and blessings,
Malin Andersen
