I hope this message finds you all well, full of joy in the Lord and that you’ve had a blessed week. I must say that I’m enjoying this quarters Sabbath School lessons, and I hope you are too, in my opinion there’s nothing better than studying and encouraging one another about God’s mission to the world. For some, sharing Jesus is an exciting opportunity but not all share the same feeling.
Have you ever felt a moment of hesitation when you thought of sharing God's mission with someone else? It's natural to feel intimidated or scared to talk about our faith with others, but as followers of Christ, we are called to share the Good News and bring others to know Him. It's a beautiful mission that we get to be a part of, alongside our Saviour.
In Matthew 28:19-20, we read Jesus' command to "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." This is an imperative given to us by our Lord, and it's one that we should take seriously. But let's not forget that He did not leave us to do this work alone.
As believers, we have the Holy Spirit within us, guiding and empowering us with the courage and strength we need to witness to others. It's essential to trust in the Holy Spirit's power as we engage in evangelism and sharing God's mission to those around us. In addition, let us keep in mind that evangelism isn't always about being the most vocal, it's about reflecting the love of Christ in every interaction we have with others, and it's about leading by example.
When we talk about sharing God's mission, we should also realise that we can make a significant impact on our spheres of influence. Our spheres of influence can be our family, friends, co-workers, or any person or group in our day-to-day life. We may not be able to travel to far corners of the world, but we have the opportunity to impact those around us with the love of God. By potentially changing someone's life through a simple conversation, we get to fulfill a mission that Jesus gave us.
As a church, we have a significant role to play in supporting and encouraging one another. We must trust in the power of the Holy Spirit and work together to fulfill the mission that we were given. Let's consistently pray for and encourage each other as we seek to share God's mission to those around us. Through our faith in Christ and our reliance on the Holy Spirit, we can confidently and obediently share God's message with others and lead them on a path to eternal life with Him.
My hope is that God’s mission inhabits our hearts in a powerful way.
God bless you all, David Peñate
