I hope you’ve had a blessed week. As we gather each week at church, I believe that it’s important once in a while to reflect on the purpose of our church. It’s not just a building or a Saturday event; it’s a vibrant community where we bond in faith and support each other in our spiritual journeys. Our church is like a family—a safe haven where we can be authentic and vulnerable. Just as the early church exemplified in Acts 2:44-47, we come together to share our joys and burdens, creating a tapestry of support and love. Imagine our community as a garden, where each relationship nurtures growth and blooms in faith.
Worship revitalises our spirits, grounding us in God’s grace. When we sing and pray together, we embody a powerful sense of unity. Fellowship—whether through potlucks or simple conversations—strengthens our connections and deepens our joy. Remember that potluck where laughter and stories flowed as freely as the food? That’s the beauty of community!
In addition, let's not underestimate the impact of outreach. As we extend our hands and hearts to those in need, we mirror Christ’s love in action. Whether through volunteering, providing support to local families, or simply being present for one another, these acts of kindness not only strengthen our bonds but also invite others into our community. It’s through these efforts that we can show our faith in meaningful ways and demonstrate that our church is not just for us but for everyone in our broader neighbourhood.
We are called to be a welcoming space for everyone, especially the broken and outcast. Our church should shine as a light, ensuring each person feels valued and loved. Each interaction—a smile, a listening ear—becomes a demonstration of God’s grace at work. Let’s strive to be a Jesus-centred community, advocating for love and acceptance, where diversity enriches our shared faith experience.
As we move forward, let’s joyfully embrace our calling to be a place where all feel they belong and where God’s goodness is celebrated.
Looking forward to our worship and fellowship time this Sabbath.
Blessings David Peñate
