Come to Me
There is an invitation that echoes through all of Scripture, gentle, steady, and full of promise. It comes from the heart of God Himself: “Come to Me.” In Matthew 11:28–30, Jesus speaks these words to weary people, burdened people, people stretched thin by life’s demands. He doesn’t offer a technique or a strategy; He offers Himself. “Come to Me… and I will give you rest.” His rest is not simply the absence of pressure, it is the presence of His peace, His strength, and His companionship in every season.
This same assurance is woven into God’s words to Joshua: “I will never leave you nor forsake you… Be strong and courageous.” (Joshua 1:5, 9). Joshua faced overwhelming responsibility, yet God’s answer was not to make the path easier, it was to make His presence nearer. The courage Joshua needed did not come from within; it came from the God who walked beside him.
Together, these passages remind us that rest and courage flow from the same source: coming to God and staying close to Him. When life feels heavy, Jesus says, “Come.” When the future feels uncertain, God says, “I am with you.” When strength feels small, He says, “Do not be afraid.”
This week, may your heart hear His invitation afresh.
Come to Him with your burdens.
Come to Him with your questions.
Come to Him with your hopes.
And find in His presence the rest, courage, and confidence you need.
