I hope you’ve had safe and blessed week. I want to share a story that I came across not too long ago, that carries profound spiritual lessons, echoing deeply within our hearts and lives. It tells of a king who, despite having all the riches and power at his command, felt an emptiness in his soul. One day, he began questioning the true essence of life and sought to find answers to these three questions:

1. What is the most important time?
2. Who is the most important person?
3. What is the most important thing to do?

His advisors offered him the expected answers: the present moment of kingship, his own worthiness as a ruler, and the ambition to expand his realm. But these answers left him feeling unsettled, prompting a journey to seek wisdom from a sage, a sage whose insights were renowned. The king bravely ventured up a mountain, seeking clarity and understanding. Yet, more than the journey up the mountain, it was the stillness and connection he experienced in nature that transformed him. Upon awakening, he found a new perspective—one that revealed the beauty of his kingdom and the deeper calling of his role as a servant to his people.

When the sage finally appeared, he posed the same questions, but the king had already begun to grasp their significance. It was not merely about power or expansion but understanding the richness of each moment, recognizing the humanity in others, and embracing the weight of responsibility in love and service.

This story serves as a poignant reminder of “The Importance of the Present Moment”. We often get caught up in our past regrets or future anxieties. Just as the king discovered on the mountain, the most important time is now—where God meets us in our daily experiences, waiting for us to engage wholeheartedly. It’s also a reminder that we should “Recognizing the Value of People Around Us”. The most important person in our lives may not always be the one in authority; rather, it is often those who are with us on our journey—family, friends, and even strangers, but none more important than Jesus. Let us love and serve one another, seeing Christ in everyone we encounter.

This story also stresses the importance of “Embracing Our True Purpose”. The most important thing we can do is to serve others. Our faith calls us not only to lead but to extend a hand to those in need, sharing love, kindness, and compassion. As we ponder these questions in our individual lives, I encourage each of you to seek moments of reflection, to discern your purpose and understand the beauty of service and connection. Let us gather in prayer and support one another as we navigate this journey together.

With love and blessings,  David Peñate
