“Come to Me with a Teachable Spirit”

Hello Church Family,

There is a beautiful simplicity in the words of Psalm 27:8: “My heart says of You, ‘Seek His face!’ Your face, Lord, I will seek.”

In this short verse, we hear both God’s invitation and the heart’s response. God calls us to come near, to seek Him, to listen—and the faithful heart answers, “Yes, Lord. I will come.”

A teachable spirit begins right there.

It is easy to think that spiritual growth comes from knowing more, doing more, or achieving more. But in God’s kingdom, growth begins with openness. It begins with a heart willing to be shaped, corrected, encouraged, and led. A teachable spirit is not weak; it is courageous. It takes humility to say, and even more courage to follow where He leads.

King David understood this. Surrounded by pressures, enemies, and uncertainty, he didn’t ask first for protection or victory. He asked for God’s presence. He wanted to hear God’s voice, to learn from Him, to walk in His ways. David knew that when the heart is teachable, God can do His deepest work. And the same is true for us today.

When we come to God with a teachable spirit:
He softens what has grown hard.
He brings clarity where confusion has settled.
He restores peace where anxiety has taken root.
He redirects us when we’ve wandered without noticing
.

A teachable spirit keeps us close to the Shepherd.

In a world that rewards certainty, strong opinions, and self‑reliance, Jesus invites us to something different: a posture of learning, listening, and seeking. He calls us to come—not with polished answers, but with open hearts.

This week, let our prayer echo David’s:
“Your face, Lord, I will seek.”

Come to Him with a teachable spirit.
Come ready to listen.
Come ready to grow.
Come ready to be shaped by the One who loves you more deeply than you can imagine.

May our hearts stay soft, our ears attentive, and our spirits willing—so that God may continue His beautiful work in us.

Blessings, Greg Campling
