I pray this message finds you well and thriving. I am excited to share an important event that will be taking place in our church—our upcoming baptism celebration. This occasion holds profound significance, not just for those being baptised, but for all of us as a congregation.
This Sabbath, we will witness several individuals take the step of baptism—a beautiful and sacred act of obedience that publicly affirms their faith in Jesus Christ. For many of them, particularly our younger members, this moment reflects deep personal reflection, growth in their spiritual journey, and a desire to commit fully to following Christ. The act of baptism symbolises so much: it represents a new birth, a cleansing from sin, and the beginning of a new life in the Holy Spirit. As they enter the waters, they are proclaiming their trust in Jesus' sacrifice and their intention to walk in His ways.
Baptism is one of the essential ordinances given to us by Christ. In Matthew 28:19-20, we are commissioned to, "go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." This commandment reminds us of our calling to share the love of Christ and to nurture the next generation in their faith. In witnessing these baptisms, we are affirming our support and commitment to these new believers as they take this important step in their spiritual journey.
For the young people being baptised, this ceremony is an opportunity to share their faith story, reflect on their experiences, and declare the hope they have in Christ. It is a moment to be celebrated, for they are acknowledging their place in the family of God and embracing their identity as beloved children of the Most High. This affirmation encourages them to continue to grow in faith and strengthens our community ties, reminding us that we are all on this journey together.
We invite you to come and support these individuals during this important time in their lives. Your presence at the baptism will not only provide encouragement and affirmation to those being baptised but also deepen the bonds of our church family. It is a wonderful reminder that we are part of a larger story and a community that stands together, uplifted by our shared beliefs.
After the baptism ceremony, we will gather for a combined lunch to continue the celebration. This gathering offers an excellent opportunity for fellowship—as we break bread together and rejoice in the milestones of our beloved community. We encourage everyone to bring a favourite dish to share, filling our tables and hearts with a festive spirit! It’s a chance to connect, share stories, and nurture the relationships that define our church family.
As we prepare for this joyful occasion, let’s remember to pray for those who are taking this bold step of faith. Consider how you can be a part of their journey moving forward, either through mentorship, friendship, or continued encouragement.
Thank you for being a vital part of our church family. I can't wait to celebrate this impactful milestone with each of you and to witness the incredible work God is doing in the lives of our young people.
Blessings and love, David Peñate
