The inspiring Rick and Dick Hoyt Marathon Story began in 1977 when Rick asked his father Dick to help him participate in a charity run. Dick agreed, and their incredible journey spanned over 1,100 races, including marathons, triathlons, and Ironman competitions -- the ultimate test of strength and endurance, considered by most as barely possible -- but not for the Team Hoyt, father-son duo.
What makes this duo so special is that Rick, the son, was born with cerebral palsy and is quadriplegic. He was unable to walk or talk.
However, through the love and devotion of his parents, he broke both athletic and academic boundaries – demonstrating what can happen when people, with an unbreakable bond to each other, set out to achieve the seemingly impossible.
